How Can I Tell If My Door Is Wind-Rated?
To determine the wind rating of your own garage door, look for a label on the back. This label explains the maximum wind strength range in miles per hour and (MPH) and the amount of pressure your door can withstand before breaking, illustrated in pounds per square foot (PSF).
How Is It Measured?
PSF can be measured in both positive and negative values (PSF+) and (PSF-). The negative pressure indicates the amount of wind pulling your door outwards. The higher the positive value, the more weight the door can handle before buckling and continue going UP & DOWN. A standard wind code value is 20 PSF.
