D & D Garage Doors installs garage door opener for Pearl Harbor Vet

It was just a typical day in our Port Charlotte Garage Door design center, that is until Cindy got to talking to Mr. Seelie who was calling about his garage door opener not working.  There was a recent power surge which caused Mr. Seelie’s garage door opener, computer and a few other items to stop working in the home.  He called because he remembered seeing a coupon for a free keypad but couldn’t find it and wanted to be sure he could still take advantage.

Cindy assured him that we would take care of him and that’s when he started to tell her a little about himself.  Mr. Seelie is a World War II Vet who served this country in Pearl Harbor.  He is one of  13 survivors who was invited by the “Greatest Generation Foundation” to return to the place, he escaped so vividly 73 years ago, earlier this month on December 7th.  Mr. Seelie just returned after gathering with dozens of other World War II veterans at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center in Honolulu to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the Japanese attack.

It was a pleasure to serve Mr. Seelie, although we can never repay him for the service he gave to this country and the freedom that we all enjoy so much today.  We honor and thank Mr. Seelie and all our Vets for what they do.  It is a sacrifice that many men would not make and we need to give praise to those who do.  Take care of our Vets when they return from war, help them when they need us the most, after all they literally risk or lose their lives for us each and every day.  It’s the least we can do!

See Mr. Seelie on ABC 7!
