You’re driving down the road headed to work and you get that all too familiar nagging feeling like you forgot something. You then think to yourself, “Oh No! I left the garage door open!” So you turn around to double check because you just can’t for the life of you remember watching it close all the way. If you’re like me and you have a little case of this OCD, and reading this makes you wonder if you closed your garage door this morning, or perhaps this reminds you of somebody you know, then keep reading, because I am about to change your world!
There’s a new technology out now that was created for exactly this type of situation. It’s from our friends at LiftMaster called, the LiftMaster Internet Gateway. It connects my new garage door operator to their MyQ technology. This allows me to check my smartphone and see if my garage door was left open. If my phone shows me that I did leave it open, I can easily close my garage door with a simple tap of a button from my phone. That’s right, you read it correctly, I can easily close my garage door from my phone!
This new technology can help me with various other situations as well, I can let family and friends inside that may be coming for a visit but are set to arrive to my house before I get home from work. Say someone from my home locked themselves out of the house, with a quick push of the button I am able to save the day and let them in.
You may be saying to yourself, “Well I already have a LiftMaster opener model that still runs great, and I don’t want to replace my entire system, what can I do?”
Well the answer is, even if you have a slightly older LiftMaster garage door opener that still runs great, you can add this feature! There is a MyQ control Panel that can replace the LiftMaster control panels made after 1998, which will send signals to and from the Internet Gateway to perform all of the same functions. The upgraded control panel on average estimates about $60, which could differ based on your location and where you are obtaining this from.
